Castle Rock Lake Solar Project

Brief Project Description: The Project area is currently fallow land which will require minimal grading.  According to historical aerial imagery, the Project Area was used for agricultural and timber production until approximately 2012, when the parcel was cleared of vegetation. Since then, the Project Area has remained fallow land. The disturbance of land would be limited to the approximately 20-acre Project area during construction.

Mountain Steer Meat Company Opens Retail Location With Assistance From USDA

In 2022, Mountain Steer Meat Company, located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, was a recipient of a USDA Value-Added Producer Grant. Mountain Steer produces West Virginia raised and processed beef for local restaurants, grocery stores, and online and in-store sales. Mountain Steer used its VAPG grant to assist with the development and startup of a retail location. Listen to their story.

Sweetheart Lake Hydropower

The project would be located on Lower Sweetheart Lake and Sweetheart Creek, within the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska. The project would occupy 2,058.24 acres of Federal lands within Tongrass National Forest, administered by the USDA, Forest Service. The project would also occupy 131.18 acres of tideland and submerged lands of the State of Alaska. The proposed project would generate an average of about 116,000 megawatt-hours of energy annually.

Purchase Power Agreement between Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc and North Carolina Municipal Power Agency (NCMPA1)

New ERA awardee, Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc., will purchase a quantity of clean energy. After the purchase is made, the RUS grant can reimburse the awardee up to 25 percent of the cost. RUS’s PPA grants provide operating capital.
