U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Deputy Under Secretary Justin Maxson today announced that the Department is investing more than $20 million in rural communities that are vital to helping sustain the country’s energy production.

Funding Will Expand Access to High-Speed Internet, Clean Water and Dependable Electric Power in People’s Homes and Businesses in Rural America
ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Dec. 16, 2021 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that USDA is investing $5,122,493 to build and improve critical infrastructure in rural Alaska. The investments will help expand access to clean water and reliable telecommunication service in people’s homes and businesses in rural communities across the state.
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the Department has begun accepting applications for up to $1.15 billion in loans and grants to help people in rural areas get access to high-speed internet. This announcement comes on the heels of the recently enacted Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which provides another nearly $2 billion in additional funding for the ReConnect program.

1.15 BILLION IS AVAILABLE THROUGH USDA'S RECONNECT PROGRAM
Goochland, Va., Oct. 26, 2021 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Xochitl Torres Small joined U.S. Rep Abigail community leaders and Virginia telecommunications officials in Goochland County on Monday to announce that $1.15 billion is available in broadband funding for rural communities through the USDA ReConnect Program. They also discussed ongoing efforts to expand broadband internet access in Central Virginia and across the Commonwealth.
