These dashboards enable a better understanding of Rural Development’s contribution to rural America’s industry ecosystem. With investment data from 2012 to present, the industry dashboards allow users to sift through information by year, program, and more, to analyze funding trends over time. The tabs at the top of the page focus on three specific geographies—State, County, and Congressional District, and the final tab allows all data to be easily downloaded.
The dashboards use the six digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) to identify industries based on their economic activity. NAICS codes assigned by the U.S. Census Bureau are widely used for statistical analysis within the Federal government and beyond. A business establishment is assigned a NAICS code based on its primary business activity, as determined by the relative share of production costs and/or capital investment at the physical location where business is conducted.
Please see our About the Data Guide if you have data-related questions. To learn about dashboard navigation and use, please view this NAICS Quick Reference Guide.
