DEVILS LAKE, N.D. May 15, 2024 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development State Director Erin Oban joined the Devils Lake Park Board to celebrate the opening of their newly renovated entertainment center.

"Through a partnership between the Devils Lake Park Board and Nodak Electric Cooperative, USDA Rural Development made affordable financing available to support a renovation of Dockside Entertainment Center,” said Oban. “Places and spaces for children and families to play, learn, and be active together are essential pieces of a healthy, thriving community, and USDA Rural Development is proud to support this community project and excited to join them in opening their doors in service to Devils Lake and the surrounding area.” Audio:MP3, 800KB, 0:34.

The Devils Lake Park Board received a $2 million, zero-interest loan from Nodak Electric Cooperative, Inc. through the USDA Rural Development Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant Program (REDLG) to renovate an existing commercial property in Devils Lake. The proposed outcome of this project will consist of a family entertainment center to benefit the community and increase the Devils Lake Park Board staff by 11 employees.

The REDLG program provides funding for rural projects through local utility organizations. USDA provides zero-interest loans to local utilities which they, in turn, pass through to local businesses for projects that will create and retain employment in rural areas. REDLG is currently open and accepting fourth quarter applications until June 30th.
