Bozeman, Mont., Feb. 8, 2023 - In alignment with the 2023 State of the Union address last night, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development State Director Kathleen Williams today highlighted the ways the Biden-Harris Administration is delivering on its promises to build a better America and how it is connecting with people across rural and tribal areas in Montana.

“Today, we are highlighting USDA Rural Development’s contributions in 2022 to strengthen our economy and rural communities, minimize the impacts of climate change, create jobs, and invest in Montana’s families,” said Williams.  “We are so proud to partner with rural businesses, communities, producers and organizations across the state to deliver the funding and resources that will improve the quality of life for families all across Montana.” 

In fiscal year 2022, USDA Rural Development made 674 investments in rural and tribal areas in Montana, totaling more than $195 million. You can view the national level news release on the USDA Rural Development website.

  • Single Family Housing Program: $71.8 million
  • Multi-Family Housing Program: $7.5 million
  • Water & Environmental Programs: $20.1 million
  • Community Facility Programs: $27.8 million
  • Business Programs: $50.6 million
  • Electric Programs: $3 million
  • Telecommunications: $12.5 million
