Today, USDA Rural Development Acting State Director Molly Hammond celebrated partnerships with local housing non-profits USDA works with throughout the state, as part of a nationwide celebration to highlight U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) efforts to provide access to affordable housing for rural Americans.

“Since 1949, USDA’s Single-Family Housing Programs have helped over 4.8 million families achieve the dream of homeownership,” said Hammond. “And we couldn’t have provided that assistance without the partnerships we have built throughout the state with essential Non-Profit Organizations. Today is all about their contribution to these much-needed programs in rural Illinois.

During June, USDA Rural Development will celebrate Homeownership Month to highlight opportunities to help people buy, repair, or build homes in rural America. USDA Rural Development supports rural partnerships in Illinois with the following partners:

  • Habitat for Humanity: Received a $95,835 Low-Income 502 Purchase Loan this fiscal year.
  • North East Community Action Corporation: Received $267,959 in Very Low Income 502 Purchase Loans that included three recipients.
  • Embarras River Basin Agency: Received $66,268 for four recipients in 504 Loans and Grants, providing home repairs to very low-income families obligated this fiscal year.
