WASHINGTON, Jan. 23, 2023 USDA Rural Development’s (RD) implementation waiver for the Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) will expire on Feb. 3, 2023. After that date, all non-Federal organizations receiving RD financial assistance for infrastructure projects will be required to exclusively use iron, steel, manufactured products and construction materials manufactured in the United States.

The Build America, Buy America Act was enacted as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on Nov. 15, 2021. It requires that all iron, steel, manufactured products and construction materials used in federally funded projects must be produced in the United States.  

To give an overview of BABAA, information on how to comply with BABAA and more, USDA RD is holding webinars as follows:

  • Wednesday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Register for Jan. 25 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Friday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Register for Jan. 27 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Friday, January 27 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Register for Jan. 27 at 4:00 p.m.

Each webinar will accommodate 1,000 attendees. USDA RD will provide a recording of the webinar content to all registrants after the final webinar.
