USDA RD Participates in Homeownership Ribbon Cutting Event in Snow Hill

SNOW HILL, N.C., June 5, 2023 – Rural Development State Director Reginald Speight with members of his Team and federal delegates celebrated the American Dream of homeownership when they cut a ribbon and welcomed a family into their home today.

“I am honored to stand with my Team to welcome this family into a home they can call their own,” said Speight. “I have been travelling across North Carolina for last week and had the privilege to participate in a number of events like this. The Biden-Harris administration is committed to continuing to assist families across the country have this same feeling of the pride of homeownership. It is almost overwhelming.”

The family partnered with Rural Development utilizing the Single-Family Housing Direct Home Loan program.

Also known as the Section 502 Direct Loan Program, this program assists low-and very-low-income applicants obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas by providing payment assistance to increase an applicant’s repayment ability.

Speight and members of his Rural Development Team are participating in events celebrating National Homeownership Month across the state in June.
