FARMVILLE, N.C., November 29, 2021 –Various federal and state officials joined U.S. Department of Agriculture North Carolina Rural Development at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new community center located in Farmville today.
USDA is investing $440 thousand in disaster grants with the Nathan R. Cobb, Sr. Foundation to construct a four thousand square foot community center and pavilion.
“This community center will provide a location to bring a place to bring children and families together,” said USDA Rural Development State Director Reginald Speight. “The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to assuring rural communities have a place to gather, share fellowship and enrichment with each other.”
Under the Biden-Harris administration, USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities, create jobs and improve the quality of life for millions of Americans in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety, and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural, Tribal and high-poverty areas.
