$4.9 million Investment Assists in Construction of New Operation Center

SHELBY, N.C., October 27, 2023 – Members of the North Carolina USDA Rural Development team with representatives from state and national offices participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with Cleveland County Water, in Shelby, today.

Rural Development invested $4.9 million through a Water & Environmental Program loan to construct a new 16,350 square foot administrative and operations center. 

The new facilities includes:

  • Administrative offices
  • Vehicle garage
  • Storage area for equipment, supplies and materials

“Rural North Carolina is experiencing record setting growth in some areas,” said USDA Rural Development State Director Reginald Speight. “As Cleveland County grows it needs the infrastructure to handle the needs of its citizens. The Biden-Harris Administration is proud to assist in the future of Rural North Carolina. This investment will help facilitate Cleveland County for many years.”
