Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul Tours Niobrara Valley Hospital

USDA Rural Development State Director Maxine Moul met with Administrator/Chief Executive Officer Kelly Kalkowski at the Niobrara Valley Hospital  in Lynch, Nebraska today to tour the facility and to see what Rural Development funds had accomplished at the hospital.

"I like visiting the communities that we have assisted on project funding,” said Moul.  “Energy is an expensive cost these days; so it pleases me to know that USDA was able to assist the hospital with energy efficiency improvements.”

Niobrara Valley Hospital was provided a USDA grant of $33,500 for energy efficiency improvements.  Funds were used to replace the original windows and entry doors to the hospital.  The hospital also replaced some heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls.

“In a hospital our size most of our excess funds go toward patient care equipment. We are always looking for ways to assist in facility improvements. Being able to take part in these USDA grants allows us to accomplish these projects which normally would have to wait until sufficient funds are raised which sometimes can take years,” said Kalkowski.

The hospital project was funded through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Grant program. For more information contact Roberta Mues at 308-237-3118 ext.1128.
