U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Oklahoma State Director Kenneth Corn announced today that the department is providing more than $30 million in funding for Seminole Municipal Authority to provide safe and accessible drinking water for the City of Seminole.

This funding will include $4,494,000 in grant to assist in water systems that were damaged in the 2022 tornadoes that impacted the City of Seminole. Additional financing of $2,823,000 in grant and $22,437,000 in loan are being delivered to improve the water systems to bring the wastewater treatment plant up to safe and deliverable standards for the City of Seminole.

“President Biden is committed not to just providing clean and safe drinking water for rural communities, but also to help fill in the gaps from storm damage that has impacted our state recently,” Corn said. “Rural Development has been a key partner for the President to ensure we are filling in the necessary areas to provide the full effort of the federal government to aide in the ongoing disaster efforts in Oklahoma.”
