USDA Invests $42 Million in Distance Learning and Telemedicine Infrastructure to Improve Education and Health Outcomes

Pennsylvania DLT project receives $490,381 grant

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced it is investing $42.3 million to help rural residents gain access to health care and educational opportunities. Rural areas are seeing higher infection and death rates related to COVID-19 due to several factors, including a much higher percentage of underlying conditions, difficulty accessing medical care, and lack of health insurance.

USDA Rural Development Invested $680 Million in 2020 to Build Rural Oregon Prosperity

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development invested $680 million in 2020 to build prosperity and strengthen businesses and communities across rural Oregon, announced State Director John Huffman today.

"This assistance plays a critical role in increasing economic opportunities and improving the quality of life for rural Oregonians," said Huffman. "We are proud to partner with rural Oregon communities to finance broadband deployment, affordable housing, business development, essential facilities, and water and electric infrastructure."
