Investment to Help Tribal Colleges Make Infrastructure Improvements and Purchase Equipment
 

Bozeman, Mont., October 20, 2020 – The Trump Administration today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $1,169,734 in the seven Tribal Colleges in rural Montana. Blackfeet Community College in Browning was awarded $174,811 through USDA Rural Development’s Tribal College Initiative Grant program.

“I’m pleased to announce the Trump Administration’s recent investment in Blackfeet Community College. Blackfeet students will enjoy campus improvements that will contribute to their educational success,” said Montana State Director Charles Robison. “Under the leadership of President Trump, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to Indian Country because we know that when Montana Tribal communities thrive, all of Montana thrives.”

Blackfeet Community College in Browning received $174,811 to fund campus improvements. including new paint, paving the Southwind parking lot and purchasing equipment to assist with future maintenance and repairs. Over the last 10 years, USDA has supported Montana Tribal Colleges with over $11 million in direct grants to support campus facilities, equipment and infrastructure.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
